By the way Kushido , if you want to have a scoop and be the first blog to give reliable informations – here’s one : NOBODY was fired at the Korea Times – this information was written in Russian papers without any check and blogs in SK have relayed the information. Of course if someone has to be fired – I should be the one ( I even offer to give my demission instead of apologizing ), nobody has to lose his job because of my cartoons but me – I wouldn’t accept that . But they are still publishing my cartoons.Thank you for the update, sir.
We're still wondering if there was a shake-up (a lot of anglophones in Korea aren't fond of the quality of journalism at the KT), but any shake-up would not necessarily have anything to do with the cartoons.
Come-on Kushibo, we all know that in Korea, no high ranking person ever gets fired, only moved. Be it kiddie fiddler principals that get shifted to the education office or leaders of chaebol who serve just a few months in prison and then go back to their regular jobs. Peray in 100% correct in that nobody got fired but 'foolsdie' apparently got moved to the business desk.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever worked for a Korean corporation? People get laterally moved all the time, or even laterally upward. It's the norm. In fact, April 1 and October 1 are often when these things happen.
ReplyDeleteI hope the KT does change for the better. The cartoons, I must say, were the least offensive part of their bullshit publication. I find their blatant and unabashed plagiarism to be repulsive, nevermind their racist, nationalistic drivel.

True. Only I know the email address, since I didn't reprint it. But anyone with a modicum of Internet skills can find his address and engage him, as I did.
Anyway, it's the exact same address I used when I wrote this comment a year ago, and no one questioned it then.

The cartoonist is not Korea; he's French. A lot of French people do speak English pretty well, and his cartoons are in English anyway. Come to think of it, a lot of Korean-Koreans speak English well enough to do cartoons in it.

He's not a Korean. He's a Frenchman living in Thailand. And yes, I know plenty of Koreans who understand English that well, are as fluent as he in English, and would kindly answer your questions.
