Korea public health reader (April 19, 2010 edition)

• In the Washington Post, Blaine Harden talks about a wave of "sympathetic suicides" in South Korea.

• The Korea Herald has an article on the life-threatening side effects of some medications, focusing on the idea that risk is created when drugs tested on Caucasians who don't have certain genes that make them vulnerable to these side effects are used by Asians who are more likely to.

• The New York Times talks about the health advantage of marriage (since 1858!). I'm cross-listing this in my demography reader as well.

• Yuhan-Kimberly marks the fortieth anniversary of its tree-planting campaign in South Korea. They aim to have planted fifty million by 2013, and so far they're at 39 million.
