[above: Barack makes his Obama face]
Not that I dislike President Barack Hussein Obama or anything, but what has he done so far to deserve this? It's the Nobel Peace Prize, not the sorry-your-city-didn't-win-the-2016-Summer-Olympics consolation prize.
Check again, Norwegians. When it's written kinda sloppy, "Bill Clinton" can look like "Barack Obama."
I heard this while running at the gym today. I almost fell off the treadmill.
ReplyDeleteI would love *LOVE* to have anyone tell me exactly what he did to deserve this.
Is this where the stimulus money really went?
I almost fell out of bed reading this (not nearly as dangerous as falling off a treadmill but, you know...)!
ReplyDeleteApparently it's for "offering the world hope and striving for nuclear disarmament..."
I'm a fan of Obama but WTF?!
The prize is supposed to go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."
Well, OK. I think Obama is making some progress towards that but, really, isn't it a little early in the game to be awarding him something as prestigious as the Nobel Peace Prize?
Kind of makes a mockery of the prize.
i think this is specifically intended to piss off american conservatives. which it will, which is awesome, and the only reason i am able to endorse this.
ReplyDeleteActually, let's not be too hard on the U.S. President. Although I was a bit surprised to hear this too, it could also very well be that the field of candidates was limited. Despite all of the economic troubles at home, Obama DID do some PR'ing overseas for nuclear disarmament and to maintain good peaceful relations. I mean, it's not like they pulled his name out of a hat. It's always a shame when I see Americans so critical of their own leaders. Come on, it's his moment..let's not all be Kanyes about this. Like the media is saying, this award was to serve as a call to action for him to keep building that trust overseas (in contrast to the tone the last administration set).
