Can you see Megan, who is openly bisexual, and Rain, who clearly likes to wear lipstick, together?Male pop stars wearing lipstick. Phht... That's so 1980s.
I'm going to go cry in my macchiato now.
UPDATE:
Megan Fox apparently came to Korea and didn't completely mangle basic Korean greetings (see below). Megan, before you come back to Korea for the launch of Transformers 3: Avenging the Recycled, contact me and let me be your Korean coach. I'll show you exactly how to move your lips, tongue, etc., as you pronounce those difficult Korean syllables.
Well, at least that was better than Jessica Simpson. Maybe it's one of those things where the darker your hair, the better you do.
Ooh! And I just thought of another one of those connections: While Megan Fox is openly bisexual, Rain romanizes the Korean pronunciation of his name as "bi," which looks like a truncation of "bisexual."
UPDATE #2:
How does the K-blog commentariat react when someone hot (both in terms of attractiveness and money-earning popularity) has something good to say about a Korean male? Yeah, you probably guessed it.
Hey...but that's awesome that Megan Fox likes (or is open to) Asian/Korean men (at least that is, if you consider Rain "Asian"). In my generation, no white mega sex symbol had the hots for ANY Asian star....well, when I was growing up the Asian stars were Bruce Lee, Don Ho, the guy who played Hop Sing on Bonanza, and Pat Morita. :T Why couldn't I have been born two generations later??
ReplyDeletei like Megan Fox. But mentioning that Rain is Korean version of JT is simply exaggerating. eeew. nowhere near.
ReplyDeleteand sure.. why not? it'd be a good publicity for Rain, then moving him to Hollywood. I'm all for Asians having a break in LA...
except for the Wondergirls.

Why wouldn't he be considered Asian? I could see someone not thinking of, say, Daniel Henney or even the philandering Jon of Jon and Kate plus eight as "Asian," in the same way people don't think of Halle Berry or Barack Hussein Obama as White, but Rain is clearly Asian... from Asia.
And it is good that the likes of Megan Fox are showing that Asian men are worth taking a look. This reminds me of something said by the relative of a relative (who is not my relative), a White fifteen-year-old on the Mainland: Asians (she means Asian-Americans) should have Asian names so that you'll know they're Asian. Because one time my friend asked me if I wanted to go out with this guy named Connor and I was all, Okay, but then I found he was Asian and I said No, I don't think so.
Whiskey tango fu¢k. Anyway, I know this girl and she's an idiot, but she's a common type of idiot. :(

I'm trying to think... I got nothing.

Or a generation earlier, when there was, for a brief time, James Shigeta.
And what's wrong with Pat Morita? He rocked as a kick-ass short dude (which is what I aspire to be, sometimes, if the whole academic career doesn't work out).
WORD VERIFICATION: cupsync
I don't know what that means, but it should be a word.

I don't know. I didn't really follow him until the whole Time Magazine most influential thing occurred.
But I do have to say, he appears to be quite popular even among many non-Koreans, though I don't know if he has the talent of Justin Timberlake.
Frankly, I like JT more for his work on Saturday Night Live than any of his music. One of his songs, "Rock Your Body," in fact has an annoying car horn sound that, if you're driving through Seoul, sounds exactly like someone's honking at you.
That piece has instilled so much road rage in me so many times, it's not even funny.

Indeed. And I'd be happy to offer my services to any rising starlet or singer who wishes to improve her English ability.
except for the Wondergirls.
Let the record show that I've never (I think it's never) written any post about the Wondergirls. I don't get their popularity, nor do I get the seething animosity directed against them. They're cute girls in a manufactured band designed to appeal to young people with more money than taste, but that's at least half of what's out their in pop music land.
